We had been requested to use the money we had been budgeting for blankets to rather buy them food as cold rooms were not so much a concern as hunger was. So, come Saturday morning, a handful of trolls braved the cold June morning and abandoned their warm homes to make the request of the centre a reality. First off I met up with Toffolux at Jumbo Cash and Carry to stock up some basic needs for the home. Of course the flies on the walls of Jumbo must have had the the perfect chuckle at the mini disagreements between me and Toffo about what is basic needs. At some point I found myself giving in to the idea that "pronutro" is a basic food requirement, SMH. In the end we got all the necessities and went off to meet a with the handful of trolls who had opted to meet us at the home.
After all the formalities, we were taken for a tour of the place. It has 4 floors. The ground floor is the main area where The dining area, kitchen and admin office are situated. The first floor houses the homeless people. The second floor houses abused women and their children. The 3rd floor houses young women and also teenagers. Every room with a teenager has a mandatory full length mirror. This to at least keep one part of their teenagehood normal, we all know that as teens mirrors are similar to cellphones!
Stokvel Vibes: The Groceries including makip kip as basic items. As per Toffo: It's for the kids. Let the kids have some nice stuff. both our car boots were fully packed!!!
The ladies are encouraged to attend skills training classes (also a donated innitiative)at no cost to them and the couches & table below are made by the ladies who reside at the centre.

I would like to thank all the trolls who contributed towards making this day happen. It is because of you that the ladies and children of Usindiso Ministries have had and will have a few more meals. It is because of your contributions that a young lady will have an outfit to wear to an interview; They don't distribute donated clothes but keep them safe so that when one of the ladies gets a new job or interview, they can select and wear to the jobs / interview. It is because of your good hearts that a child had a few snacks that she might have not been able to enjoy for a while because of her situation. I cannot and will never thank you enough for being part of Saturday.
