News that caught my attention this week

What a hectic week it was news-wise, filled with sadness which soon turned to judgement and then speculation of what must have happened regarding the shooting and killing of Senzo Meyiwa. I do trust we are still to pick this bone some more. May he RIP.

I am concerned though that suddenly there is an outcry about RSA being said to be a trigger happy country. Why now? is it because a well known personality has been gunned down? why the silence when innocent and unknown persons get shot on a daily basis. Or the general public does not deserve concern when it comes to these kind of things?

And then there was the man from Diepsloot; Ntokozo Hadebe; who was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment and 9 life terms behind bars after being found guilty of multiple counts of murder, kidnapping and rape. What caught my eyes about this case it the brutality and lack of remorse of this man. I watched in the news as he tried to grab a cameraman's equipment while in court and then he just laughed. He even swore at the judge as he was being led to the cells. HAVE YOU EVER!!!!! What an ass.

Ebola is not making life easy for West Africa's entrepreneurs who make a living from selling bush meat to tourists. since it has been speculated that wild animals may be responsible for the spread of the disease, the people who sell said delicacies are left stranded with no customers to purchase their rotting stock.

On local news: today we are trollpicing either your armour ("Twizer guns") or TOLAH face!!!!! Don't be a spoilt spot..... lets do this

Remedies in the pantry

Recently I was ecstatic when I discovered olive oil can be used to remedy dry hair. Then boredom led me to more discoveries some of which were more memories than new discoveries really. So I am gonna share with you my household items that have multi uses than what they are well known for.

  • Salt: more than a seasoning. Can also be used to gargle when you have mouth sores and bad breath. Can even be used to soak tired feet at the and of a long day.
  • Vinegar: can also be used as a cleaning agent. If you have crawling pests in the house you can use vinegar as a disinfectant. Also inside cupboard to get rid of roaches.
  • Garlic & onions: this mix can be used to ease cramps associated with period pains. Boil the two and pour into a small bucket or ndishi then steam your abdomen by acting as if you are sitting over the bucket with legs open to allow the heat in via the vjay jay.
  • Lemon: lemon is like the wonder fruit. I have seen ladies put it in their drinking water to help lose weight. I discovered here that its juice can be used to help with skin breakouts by simply putting it in boiling water and steaming with it an voila, Bob's your uncle.
  • Cloves: can be used for sore teeth. When I was "teething" my aunt gave me a spice bottle with powdered cloves and I was never ready for the relief.
  • Bleach: I use bleach in dishes automatically nje. It is also best to purify water.  My granny used to put a out a cup in a 25l bucket and would leave it for a bit and the water would be considered safe to drink.
These are just some of the things I know that are used for more than one function. What home remedies do you ladies swear by?

Take a moment to say Thank you!!

It's so easy to be caught up in our busy schedules, or just complain about
our problems, jobs, bosses, pre-husbands/ pre-cohabitation partners that we
forget to say Thank you to those people that have made an impact in our
lives.

I have the most amazing parents, siblings and friends that have helped me
through the difficult stages of my life. But I just thought today I need to
take a moment and thank each of them individually. Life's too short, and
often times we realise when it's too late that there's so much we needed to
say to our loved ones.

Don't wait to write long ass messages on the tombstone that we don't even
know if the dead can read. But take the chance now, while they are still
alive to say Thank you so and so for being such a great person. On the same
note, let us be grateful for small mercies in our lives. Ofcoz sgedle is
giving me problems but I can think of a whole lot of people that get caught
up in the rain or that are left stranded when putco bus decides to chill on
the hiway... So thank God for everything and also thank those that are
everything to you...

Who do you need to say Thank You to today? Let's....

Weekend roundup

Morning friends, I hope you guys had a good weekend. I had a fab one.

Was supposed to go to KZN but ended up going to NW and booooy was this the best idea. It was so refreshing to be with my family. My aunts, cousins and granny just reminded me what it feels like to be surrounded by unconditional love.

Got home feeling refreshed just to hear of yet some more bad news. Senzo Meyiwa is no more. Famous for being one of Mzansi's top goal keepers and fathering a child out of wedlock with songbird Kelly Khumalo, Meyiwa was shot yesterday in a house he was staying in in Vooslorus in what looked like a house robbery. Police are looking for more info and are offering a reward of up to R14000.00 to anyone with more info.

What did you guys get up to?
