Tales by my granny that I now live by

Granny knows best
The tar road doesn't end my child, it goes on and on but the human body is what will reach it's use by date before the tar ends.

                                                 or
The World's things don't end, only us humans shall perish.

This is what my paternal gran loved saying to me. It didn't make sense to me what she meant because we stayed in a village and that tar road sure did reach its end as it was in between gravel roads. She loved speaking in parables that most of the time she would be talking and I would just want her to finish so she could gimme peanuts.

She also liked telling me a tale of a man. A very good loving man who would sell his soul for the best of humanity. One day on his way home, he found a snake that had been run over by a car and left to its fate. The man realised that if only he could nurse the poor serpent it can get back to normal and he will let it off and release it in the field for it to get back to it's normal serpentry activities. He fed the snake and left some rags for it to keep warm. Occasionally he would pet it. One day as he was petting the snake, it bit him. He had to be rushed to hospital but begged for his family not to harm the snake in any way. Alarmed they asked why not, he replied that  it was the snake's nature to bite when it felt cornered and smothered just like it was the man's nature to care for all things natural. That, neither the man nor the snake had done wrong in doing what their nature required of them.

The above are what I live by with the later being what gets me over a lot of situations.

What are the things the elders taught you that you live by?

Basic's Must Have In Every Kitchen

My opinion all kitchens must have a fridge, stove, microwave and kettle, others are nice to haves.

When I started working I was still staying with the parents. At work they had a “kitchen stokvel” and due to peer pressure I joined the gang.

Biggest mistake of my life, I bought all the nonsense with my money. My kitchen is full of Tupperware, unused appliances which range from toaster to griller.

Some of the useless items I bought, filling my cupboard space, coffee maker, griller, rice cooker, and a slow cooker.

Yes to me they are useless but if you are a coffee lover your kitchen will definitely need a coffee machine.

I am so in love with the Nespresso machine from far. It is not huge and for those with small kitchen it will be a best buy unless you have a humongous kitchen.

I am not a bread person hence I have never used my toaster, if you enjoy your toasted bread a toaster is a must for your kitchen. For those with school kids another

After I bought my place I was not aware a stove is not part of the package, all my appliances became useful then. The problem with me I hate plugging and washing all these appliances. I lived on rice, and meat. I also have a wok which I love. It is very useful for breakfast preparations.
One other item I adore is the blender for smoothies. Mine is no longer working due to excessive use.must have is a sandwich maker. For those health conscious I hear George Foreman grill is an essential tool.

And ladies please stick to one label, you cant have a Salton toaster, Kenwood kettle and Russell Hobbs blender LOL.

Music to my ears...

Music is like alcohol! We use it to cheer ourselves up when feeling down, as entertainment, to celebrate or cry just because nje! Only difference is, it is good for the mind, body and soul! Let me share a few of my favorite albums...

1.
Now this is my most favorite album of all time!! It speaks to my every being!! Zion being my favorite song EVER!! Like EVER!!!

2.
I find some sort of comfort and do silly dances to some if these songs! I even act out the lyrics... Best from Brandy... Camouflage being my fav!

3.
Oh boy!! I love this boy!! I sing along to all songs on this album!! "Two eagles on the rocks asseblief tog... No dash, amaceni stiff shot... Ngithi sip nyana before I lift off!

4.
I remember when I first heard "feelings", i cried... I had it on repeat... I could relate sooooo much!!! But now i can say, I DONT RELATE, WONT RELATE, REFUSE TO EVER RELATE... Beautiful song still!!

5.
I love all her albums!! All of them!! Started giving her attention after I heard eyes of the heart... "Love don't start with the eyes, Starts with the heart
Look deep down inside
In all that you have a chance
To make a choice, to make a change
So make the choice to look with the eyes of your heart"

This is just a few of my faves, what are yours?
