Week's wrap up

Oh what a week it has been. So full of activities and I must say, it felt like the shortest week this 2015. First of all, as can I just share my favorite news item this week? The City of Cape Town wants to tag those black garbage bins. The ones that get put out on garbage day. WTF? Tag a garbage bin? Are Cape Town Folk so rich that their problems have become this miniature that they must now track bins?

In sadder news, a number of us are going to have a struggle getting around due to the taxi violence that has erupted in Johannesburg metropolitan areas. A taxi driver was beaten and dragged behind a taxi until he died in Bryanston on Wednesday. Yesterday 2 more taxi drivers were assaulted and are now fighting for their lives in hospital. Somehow, it doesn't look like this is the end of it. Can someone please intervene before more bloodshed takes place, before innocent lives are taken?

My office air provider
In local TOLAH news, I would like to announce that Fufu will be running this blog for the next few weeks. The other Toptrolls will assist her to make this a bit smooth for her. Please troll her hard, don't make life easy for her.

As decided yesterday, today we are TOLAH picing our pets and Cacti. I wanted to pic my blankey but am not allowed so here is my office plant/tree

Traditional delecacies

There are a lot of foods that I remember eating as a child, that I don't see anymore. If lucky, I will get to eat it when I visit my grandmother's house otherwise it just seems like some traditional meals have just vanished into thin air. There are a few dishes that I remember tasted like heaven and I would like to share the basics of these dishes with you.

This is not a cooking post, so no step by step on how these are made. Just the basics of what they are.

  1. Tshopi: It's like pap, only it is made from pumpkin. You then add a bit of mealie mealie to thicken it and add a bit of sugar to thicken it. It is can be enjoyed on it's own or you can add veges. We usually had it on it's own but one day I went home and I saw that my aunt had dished it with some salads and meat.
  2. Tindluwa.

  3. Tindluwa: AKA Bambara beans. I used to love these. My granny would just boil these and voilah! we had a snack. They were usually served during tale telling times at night by the fire when my aunts would take turns telling us African fairy tales.
  4. Mikhusa: Dried wild spinach or even pumpkin leaves that have been boiled first and then left in the sun to dry. and then when stored. I imagine this tradition originally started due to the fact that there were no other form of preserving foods in the olden days except for first boiling and then letting said foods dry to make storing them and longevity easier.
  5. Unwrapped ximbhundzhu
  6. Ximbhundzhu: This is almost the same as idombolo. only it is made out of mealie meal and it is wrapped in a corn husk and boiled.
  7. Matomani: Fortunately this snack is becoming more and more available all over the country. It is widely known as Masonja or Mopani worms. It tastes like chicken kiiiiii
These are just some of my once favorite traditional foods, that I miss and have become more and more scarce as the modern life takes over. What are yours?

My dirty, strange, guilty addiction

It feels good to my soul. It calms me.
It is that one thing that I do in my private space, yet am very ashamed to disclose it, well until recently when I shared here with you ladies.
I can never wait to be alone to fully enjoy this pleasure of mine.
Friends and close family have warned me of the dangers of my addiction. I listen, digest the warnings but each time the craving hits, I cannot wait to go dig out my stash and fully indulge. I have had to come up with several hiding spots to keep it to avoid it being found and discarded by my loved ones.

It is considered barbaric, rural, unsightly and unladylike to be seen doing it. After each time i do it, I feel like the world can open and let me in as this addiction is not on the top ten social things that people do.

It is a dirty habit. It is sold in dodgy places and boy can I say it is in no way a thing to be proud of, unlike habits such as smoking. I am not in anyway prepared to let my habit go. I am not looking for help. I am here to let you know, ladies and gentlemen, that I have chosen the odd way out. My peers are addicted to smokes, alcohol and others to rich men.

Hi, my name is Nana and I am addicted to eating sand. I know I am not the only one with a strange addiction. Help me feel part of the community by sharing what yours is.

Fifty shades of grey...

Fifty shades of Grey Review

So I went to watch the most awaited movie by most women… Hoping to finally meet the man that has been getting their panties wet for a while, got their men laid frequently, and the innocent Anastasia.

I went to the cinema alone, chose the most empty row in the room, so if I had to quickly help myself, I can do it without shame. I did the number eight once, killed by the short lived sex scene, but I could not wait to get home J

Let me start with the characters:

Christian: They got a wrong guy to act this out. He seemed uncomfortable in the role. It just did not suit him. From the description, he was supposed to command a room when he entered. He did not.

Anastasia: Perfect girl for the role… She nailed it! Can’t remember if she was described as having a bushy vagina, but she did here. Oh and we got a glimpse of Christians ding dong… Not much, but it was something.

The other characters were OKAY… It was not really about them anyway.

The age restriction 16 SNL should be changed to 18SNL. No 16 years old should see that. There was a lot of nudity, humping, like soft porn nyana. Maybe I am too conservative. I know it sounds weird coming from me, but I am that protective type of person...

Anyway, it seems like it is going to be sequel of all three books. This one ended like the first edition of the book.

Anastasia needs to change those pair of shoes she was wearing throughout the movie…

Overall it was a good interpretation of the first edition of the book. They did their best. Not many movies derived from a book can be that close, they managed to capture the milestones of the movie.

Unlike most people say it was crap, it worth watching. I cant wait for the follow up.

Not much of a review right?? Oh well...! Go watch it!!

Happy pre-pay day Monday

Happy Monday and welcome back. I hope we all had a reaxing weekend.

My weekend was so boring. Spent Saturday indoors because pre-pay day brokeness. Discovered someone has gone behind my back and contacted my new housemate to cancel the accommodation arrangements. Thank goodness I found out soon enough to reinstate it. Went to Yeye's fateher's funeral on Sunday. It was so refreshing to see that his celebrity girlfriend; Mpho Maboi; is taking her makoti duties seriously. U-girl phela was fukuzing like a paid for bride. Hey, Soweto chicks are scavengers though. It was very obvious how most of them had come to scout for their next soccer bae. All I can say is people were eaten by soccerstars this weekend. I can't wait for the next open letter to a soccer star from a bitter one night stand yellowbone.

What did you ladies get up to? Was one of you stock too?
