Dreams….Ditoro…Amaphupho….
There has been a few questions here concerning dreams. Due to limited space, I will only share a few
meanings concerning your dreams as most dreams can have more than 1 meaning. Bathi with animal dreams, you must remember
the size, and colour of the animal as some represent luck while others represent
bad luck…it is very important.
1. SNAKES
If it’s green and big it means there is an enemy that is close to you, that
can be part of your family, this makes them very dangerous because they can
harm you without knowing as you trust them. In most cases, this person is
closest to you to make sure that you don’t see what they are doing.

A brown and white snake is the one that is associated
with ancestors, it can be seen as a good luck snake or as a warning. An
individual can dream of this snake wrapping itself on him, which will bring
good luck or a warning of something that will happen in the house hold.
We all know dreaming of a snake can also be a sign of a
new born baby or pregnancy.
2. FOOD
Eating with the right hand in a dream means success.
Eating with the left hand in a dream means falling in the trap of one’s enemy and displeasing one’s friends. Eating a
meal that is cooked with meat in a dream means richness for a poor person.
Eating a meal that is cooked without meat in a dream also may mean poverty, or
it could mean devotion. If one’s meal turns into something better in the dream,
it means advancement…
And we all know
that in African Culture eating in a dream is dangerous…as it can mean your
enemy is feeding you poison (isidliso).
3. DREAMS
REPRESENTING BAD LUCK
Dreams associated with bad luck don’t need to be analysed
they are straightforward. When you dream that:
•You are in a
dark place it means it will be hard for you to succeed from that. Your
ancestors are showing you that some areas in your life are bad. Bad luck can be
caused by a witch who is making sure nothing in your life will be perfect. Even
when you try to succeed nothing goes well.
•Swimming in dirty water and in it you see a naked baby
and you try to save it but you can’t and you end up in a dark place. This dream
is mostly associated with females who have suffered miscarriage. The baby in
the water is the foetus that was miscarried. This dream explains where the bad
luck comes from. The baby is a sign that it has grown and as a parent certain
rituals should be performed. A cleansing ceremony can be done followed by a
ceremony of naming and putting clothes on the child.
•Someone showing you their naked butt this means bad luck
is coming your way. Sometime you will see someone that you know and they are
the one who is casting a bad spell to you. This dream is associated with women
who are dating one man.
•Somebody is giving you old clothes or asking you to wash
their clothes and the water is dirty. This means someone is casting a bad spell
to your household. Some case you dream that someone is giving you bronze coins
or you picking them up. You are being warned that there are things that are
going to be hard in your life. And some dreams are a warning of things that are
man made by witches.
•If you dream of a mermaid and it is in the sea, this is
a big luck and your ancestors are always giving clear messages.
•If you are in a sunny or lit place: This is luck it
means what is happening in your life in general is clear, you are not in the
dark. Sometimes you might dream being in the dark but at the end you reach
light place, this means something is not right in your life but reaching that
lit place means all is going to be well.
•If you dream that somebody is giving you silver coins or
notes it means luck is coming or your luck is returning to you if you have been
having problems. It is not a good sign when you are the giver of the money in a
dream this means someone is taking away your luck.
•If you dream of a nurse its luck no matter what she task
she is doing.
•If you dream that you are carrying a baby and it poo but
you are not messed. That is good luck. If you get smeared with it, it’s bad
luck. A child is number 9 and poo is number 36 for betting people its luck.
5. DREAMS ASSOCIATED WITH DEATH
There are signs when someone is going to die and some
people dream about these things. Some are lucky to even see who is going to
die. In some families they have diarhoea without no particular reason, this
happens when someone is sick.
•When you dream of a wedding party and you see someone
that you know in that dream getting married; it might happen that that person
might die.
•When you dream that there is strong dark wind and you
have stomach cramps. That is a sign that your sibling is going to die.
•When you dream that you are paying in a public transport
but the car drives on instead of dropping you this means that someone close to
you will die, it can also be your own child.
•When you dream that a group of people are building a
house, this may mean that it might be your neighbour, friend or someone you
acquainted with will die.
•When you dream of a coffin or hearse. Your sibling or
neighbour will die.
•When you dream of old furniture and a pile of clothes it
means someone will die.
•When you dream drinking water (clean or dirty) this means something
bad is going to happen. Dirty water can also mean someone is pregnant.
6. DREAMS ASSOCIATED WITH PREGNANCY
•When you dream of different fruits…. A family member or
friend is pregnant
•When you dream that you are eating fruits: you are the
one pregnant or you are going to fall pregnant.
•When you dream that you are swimming in muddy water: it
means you are the one that is pregnant.
7. DREAMS ASSOCIATED WITH CASTING OF
SPELLS
Dreams associated with casting a bad spell it can be in a
relationship or work and dreams of confession or surrendering are describable
or they don’t need a lot of analyses because they are straight forward.

When someone dreams of a person or the dreamer
knows about the infidelity of their partner and they dream of a person who is
dating their partner, making their bed this means someone is casting a bad
spell that is associated with a relationship meaning they are trying to break
them up. It is a relationship rivalry cast. Some dreams you don’t see the
person that is doing a bad thing to you and some people will see a family
member making bed for them that does not mean it is that person who is casting
a spell. The caster or rivalry used another muthi to hide and disguise so that
you will see a familiar person in your dream.
•When you dream that somebody is giving you uncooked chicken
meat: this is also a bad spell. In this dream the caster can be seen in your
dream. It is also associated with a relationship between two women fighting
over a man. There are many things that should be looked at because it can
happen that it is the mother in law who is casting a bad spell against her
daughter in law. The ancestors are showing the dreamer that she is not wanted
by the family. It can also be used by another rivalry.
•When you dream that someone is urinating on you or worms
this is also associated with rivalry in a relationship. Sometimes they smear poo around them or in the house. This is a
sign that the spell is working or in progress. The only thing that can help is
to consult with traditional healers for treatment. This is a very bad spell
because other people can smell it and can cause the partner to hit the woman
even if she didn’t do anything.
8. CATTLE
When someone dreams that they are being chased by a
cattle and it wants to stab them with its horns: it means there is a person who
is competing or a rivalry that is trying to do something bad to you. And this
dream is a warning from your ancestors. To married couple, one might think that
their partner is unfaithful whereas the dream can only mean someone has eyes
over the partner. People can use umuthi to get what they want or to make your
business to lose customers.
9. DOGS
Dreaming of dogs can be confused as ancestors because
dogs are associated with ancestors. But only if it’s a puppy and it looks happy
to see you only then you can be happy. When it is barking and chasing you that
is a very bad dream and it means there are people close to you who are planning
something bad against you. If the dog gets to you and bites you it means the
spell that they are casting against you will work and only a traditional healer
can help you. And it is also believed that when a young bride arrives at her in
laws house and they have dogs that are known for biting people and the dogs
don’t do anything to her it means she is accepted by the ancestors. But if they
bite her it is a sign that she won’t survive long in her marriage no matter
what she does.
10. DREAMS
ASSOCIATED WITH SUCCESS
For people who believe in what their dreams say it is
important that they take into consideration the meaning of dreams that comes
back more than once. These types of dreams are saying something to them and it
is important to do what is said in the dream and there is a belief that this
may lead to luck in your life. These dreams are associated with success:
•If you dream that you are fighting with your co-wife it
means she is casting a bad spell so that you will break up with your partner.
But when you dream that you are fighting with her and you are winning that
means you are overcoming what she trying to do to you and her umuthi would not
work.
•When you dream that you are fighting with somebody and they
win, if you are a male you are fighting with a female and vice versa. You are fighting with a tokoloshe, it is
said that when someone cast tokoloshe, they send an opposite sex of their
target. If it happens that you win when fighting with that person it means you
have succeeded and anything cast against you will not work. It is important to note that some people are lucky to see
that they are being cast with a tokoloshe in their dreams because they will
start fighting with an unknown individual but when they are winning that person
changes to someone that they know or their own children and it is important to
hit it until it dies.
•When you dream a house being built and you take a tool that
was used building it and you destroy it, this mean you are destroying or
stopping something bad that was going to happen to you or your family. Mind
you, building of a house means death and destroying it can stop that.
•When you dream that you are losing your personal things
like clothing or someone takes away something that you are carrying or you lose
one earing or button. And in the end you find these things or you hear a voice
telling you where your belongings are that means you have overcome something
bad that was going to happen.
•When you dream that somebody is doing bad things to you or
that are not looking you in the eye and they are in a dark place and sometimes
they say bad things that they wanted to do to you. They even tell you that they
are tired. That means they are surrendering and this might mean the ancestors
of the receiver are protecting them.
