Kabomo's 3rd Album Launch (Sekusile)

Thursday night we were hanging out at the Market Theatre in Joburg for Kabomo’s third album launch Sekusile. And what a ball we had.

A bit of a background about Kabomo, he is a bit of a jack of all trades and surprisingly mastering all of them. He is an award winning Musician, a Writer and an Actor who hails from Daveyton in the East of Johannesburg, it turns out he is a comedian as he had us in stitches the entire night. He released 2 albums already All things grey and Memory Remain.

Now the night was star-studded but as you can see from the pictures we took the Bae and I are celebs in our own right so we did not want to come across as groupies. The event started off with a young lady (whose name I did not get because Dj Cleo kept poking me and it pissed off my Mr so he had to bring him to order) who recited 2 beautiful poems on called “Black Women Plotting”, obviously the main act Kabobo serenading us as he had the likes of Moneoa, Brian Themba, Chad Saaiman, Kelly Khumalo and many more hahaha.

3 Things Interesting about this album:
  1. It was recorded with live instruments, no computerized lepapata was featured here all authentic
  2. The entire album was written in Zulu(Although he s of Swati origin) , A Zulu love letter as refers it
  3. There are no features not even a single one on this album (“so they don’t eat his money” said my Mr)

The first single ‘BHUBESI’ is a plea to the gifted, which is ultimately wonkumnuntu, to not give up on their predestined vision. It is a plea to the dreamers, to keep their eyes on the prize. And that even when there are stones thrown at them, even when they get ridiculed, even when no one believes in them, they must have a heart of a lion and fight for what’s theirs. The album is currently live on ITunes for pre-order. His record label, Universal Music, could not be more proud to gift the world with such a mature and well thought of musical experience.
